What a beautiful weekend it is here in Virginia! I finished listening to Janet Evanovich's new book "Finger-licken Fifteen" - it's great, of course. I have to admit that I received numerous strange looks as I kept laugh hysterically throughout the story - when people on the trail started giving me a wide berth I realized how silly I must look hot and sweaty as I jogged along laughing uproariously at something no one else but me could hear. Oh well, it was well worth it. I am now listening to Mary Kay Andrews newest book - "The Fixer Upper". If you have not read this author, I highly recommend her. Her stories are delightful.

A delightful elderly lady from church learned that I cross stitch (as does she) and invited me to a Needle Arts Exhibit. We traveled to it yesterday and I was just amazed at the work displayed. There was such a wide variety of needlework - stump work, bargello, hardanger, goldwork, and brazillian, just to name a few - some of which I had never heard of or seen before. They also displayed some exquisite bead work. If anyone is interested, the show is in Bedford, VA and is presented by the Blue Ridge Chapter Embroiderer's Guild and the 7 Hills Chapter of American Needlework Guild. I have not heard of either guild but would like to learn more - I have no idea what a guild does. Does anyone belong to a guild?

I received some stash recently - it's so hard to resist a 40% off sale!

Silkwood Manor - Just Nan
Barnabas meets Bella - Just Nan

These popular patterns have been on my wish list - I can't wait to start stitching!

The Plantation Sampler
Betsy Davis
Betsy Manchester

And lastly, progress on my Learning Girl's Sampler - I am really enjoying stitching this.

Well back to my stitching and Samantha. Enjoy your Sunday afternoon.

Sounds like a fun show you visited, Cari! Love your new stash too. You've got plenty to keep you busy, I'd reckon! I belong to a guild. Among stitching projects and just getting together with folks with similar interests, we donate monies to the preservation of samplers, host teachers for classes to learn new skills and various other things. Lots of fun, if you have one near you, you should check it out.

Great new stash haul! Love the progress on your sampler, too.

I love Janet Evanovich's books. I am glad to hear that Fifteen was good, I'd heard otherwise but still want to read it.

Hi Cari,
Looks as if you have a great collection of stash there.
If you do Betsy Davis, just be careful with the symbols. Because the chart is hand written it is easy to misread some of them. I have been caught a few times. It helps if you can have a big photo of the sampler as well. They is a link to a couple of websites on my blog where you can get them. Good luck if you do it. It is such a beautiful sampler. The other Betsy is my next challenge. - Sandra.
