Below is an old pattern by Patricia Andrle - she did a series of these hardanger window series (or cross stitch illuminations). I've completed the Christmas House - which is a beautiful pattern, I'm working on the Romantic Gazebo, and on on the hunt for her Victorian House (BH&G Jan/Feb '98). Below is the Toy Store which I completed a couple years ago and just pulled out of my 'finished drawer' with the intent to have it framed but, I have a dilemma. I just love the toy store - all the specialty stitches and the soft subtle colors. Next pic is the inside of the toy store - I love the bright, vivid colors of the children's toys but... I don't like them put together (last pic). I can't believe I didn't realize this two years ago when I started stitching it. Lord willing, the pattern is still in somewhere in my stash and I will restitch the toys in softer, more muted shades that will compliment the store.

Well, it's not yuck, but it's certainly surprising--the primary colors with the muted ones. Maybe you could restitch the toys in more pastel-y colors?
Love the fluffer kitty!
First off, I have to say that I'm in awe of the Toy Store with all that cut work. A challenge I would think. I'm with Glenna - the colors are a little surprising, but yet, wouldn't they fade into the background if also done in pastels.
And the Victorian House that you're talking about - I may have it in my stash and I'd be happy to send it to you if I do. I'll have to check though - I know that I have a Christmas one, but I may also have that one. I'll check and if I have it I'll email you.
Hi Cari. Well..... I have to agree with you. When I saw the first piece alone, I thought it was beautiful. The toys just aren't doing it for me, though. Frankly, I think the store front it gorgeous all by itself. It really is a work of art.
I hope Deb has what you're looking for. She is amazingly organized!
I agree with Terri... both are beautiful, but I think the store front is a work of art on its own.
Kitty is adorable!
What a sweet kitty! I hope you can find your pattern. That toy store piece is a huge amount of work - wow!! You'll have to show the other ones you've stitched!
Excellent work. Congratulations!
I would like to embroider this toy store. But, unfortunately, lost the color key. Could you help me?? I would be very grateful to you.
