Thank you!

As of 8:59 Friday evening, I officially began Spring Break – whoo hoo! NINE DAYS OF FREEDOM – well almost, three classes are still in progress but 3 versus 6 seems like a piece of cake. I have a long list of things I plan to do while I am off. Top of the list is clean my house! Because of my knee fracture, I cannot get on my hands and knees and scrub my floors so, I have a girl coming on Monday to make my house sparkle! I have emails to catch up on and blogs to view, I am going to overhaul the closet in our master bedroom, I have to input my portion of our tax stuff into the computer, I’m going to listen to lots of books, go for long walks, spend time with friends, watch lots of movies, and make lots and lots of x’s.
Speaking of x’s, here is my progress on the Yellow House Sampler
First, I have to thank my brother Shawn for fixing my blog as it was hijacked a couple of weeks ago. I added a counter from the Google choices – well it had a virus. Whenever anyone would enter my blog, it would automatically re-direct them to a site trying to sell something. Shawn is an absolute computer genius! He found the problem and fixed it quickly – THANKS BIG BROTHER!
Secondly, I have to thank the talented and generous Jolene of Dip Diddly Designs who honored me with a blogging award. I confess that I don’t feel very worthy of it as I have not been very attentive to my blog or to others. Along with myself, the award was given to Terri, Deb, Loraine, Yuko, Staci, and Kellie – what an honor to be listed with these six amazing women, congratulations ladies!

There are stipulations that come with the award:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award – check.
2. Paste the award on your blog – check.
3. Link to the person who nominated you – check.
4. Tell 7 interesting things about yourself – check (not sure they are interesting, but there are seven).
5. Nominate 7 blogs and post links – check.

Seven random things about myself:
Ø I am currently taking 9 classes this semester – complete insanity. But, this means I will graduate in May with my BS in Business Management. I will begin my Master’s this summer and my goal is to complete it in a year, Lord willing.
Ø I live in a house that was built in 1895 and each room has a fireplace. In my bedroom my favorite place to drop my jewelry was onto the mantle. Well, sure enough my favorite necklace slipped behind the fireplace mantle one evening. I took a wire hanger and tried to slide the necklace out. First I came out with someone’s checkbook, next a photograph of a bride the back was dated 1898, a $20 bill, another $20, and another $20, a $10 (none of this was money we had lost), a postcard from 1910, a few hand-hewn (handmade) nails, and lastly my beloved necklace.
Ø By the time I graduated high school, I had moved 14 times. I never attended one school more than two years. No, my father was not military, he worked in the grocery business and when he received a promotion, it meant moving to a new area to manage more stores. I was born in Michigan and lived in Illinois, Minnesota, Tennessee, Alabama, and Virginia.
Ø I have four brothers, no sisters, DAVID * JASONN * SHAWN * BOBBY.
Ø I love shoes, especially high heels and wear them most of the time. (of course, the fact that I am only 5’5” is a motivator)
Ø My previous job was managing four departments. One of these departments was Production. I would frequently help out which meant lots of running around. I would often kick my heels off to allow me to move faster and give my poor feet a break. Unfortunately, my employees got great amusement out of hiding my shoes. One afternoon after completing a huge order, I walked over to the table where I had kicked my shoes off, slipped my feet back in and as I began to walk away, I realized everyone was watching me and, I realized I couldn’t move – they had velcroed my shoes to the carpet.
Ø My favorite snack foods are chocolate and popcorn – not necessarily together. And, I am a coffee snob.
Now comes the hard part, choosing only seven blogs to nominate, I did choose seven that were not on Jolene’s list but it was still hard as I love so many blogs, here goes…
Take a few moments to visit these talented women, their work will inspire you.
Thanks to everyone who stops by for a visit, your comments mean so much!
I’m off to get all dressed up as we have two wedding to attend this afternoon.
Enjoy your weekend!
Cari

Cari - you are so deserving of this award. Your blog is an absolute joy to come to!!! You deserve every bit of the award. I'm amazed that with the class load that you've had you've managed to get any stitching done at all or blogging for that matter!!

I'm just loving your A&E! You're making such great progress on it and you're such a smart girl not leaving that border until the end. You'll probably make even more progress now that you only have three classes - although I don't even know how you'll find time with three! But the end is almost near, isn't it? I hope that you enjoy all your new found time with stitching, family and friends.

Love all the facts about you. It's always fun to learn things about people. Love all those items that were found behind the mantle. Obviously you weren't the first to lose things but how wonderful to find all that behind there - including your necklace.

Have a wonderful weekend Cari!

I loved reading about you and especially all the treasures you found behind your mantle. I would love to see the photo of the bride....do you think it was the original owner of your home? And do you get to buy new stash with the $$$$ you found? How exciting! I think you and your hubby need to check behind each of your mantels.....who knows what you'll find. Glad you were able to retrieve your special necklace. Ypur sampler is looking beautiful (as all of your projects). Have a wonderful spring break!!!! You deserve it....Smiles!~

Congrats on the award! And thank you for nominating me!!! :D I loved reading about you. It's always so much fun to find out about people. Wow, who would have thought a grocery manager would have to move so much! I hope you manage to finish your MS in the time you want to. You're ambitious! And hey, good for you to get someone in to clean! I need to do that! lol! Thanks again!

Ha! Well, Cari, I just posted and I gave YOU the same award that you just gave me! I also gave it to Lois, Margaret and Laurie! Thank you for thinking of me!

Now I love the adventure with the fireplace and all the things you found. I would be so tempted to just rip that thing apart and see what else is behind there! lol.

Your YH Sampler is looking great! And how wonderful you now have a big of a break! I hope you have some R&R during that time and not just clean house or something!

Sounds like you have a busy spring break planned. Why can't we ever take a real break when we get one? I enjoyed getting to know you - I am off to check behind my mantle now. :o)

Enjoy your spring break Cari! Isn't it funny how husbands have the best intentions sometimes and then forget to follow through? DH offers to clean the bathroom from time to time, but he hasn't cleaned a bathroom in...well we've been married for 6 years so at least that! Haha! It's like it doesn't cross his mind to finally do it because he's never the one to do it. :::Sigh:::

And 4 brothers?! WOW!!!

What a wonderful post!!! I love your Yellow House sampler - it's looking wonderful and like Deb, I don't know how in the world you find time to do anything while taking NINE classes. WoW!

The seven facts list I loved - especially the 14 schools thing. Exactly the same number I was in by the time we moved to Korea. Korea was the only school I attended for more than a year and it was my 14th school. Probably explains a lot about my personality! And the story about your necklace - how cool is that and can you imagine how sad that bride must have been to have lost her picture?

I am so glad you got this award - your blog is as beautiful as you are - inside and out and you greatly deserve it!

Have a wonderful time off on your Spring Break and I hope you get lots of stuff done (fun stuff, though)!
Enjoy your week, Cari!

What a fun post! Loved reading about you. No sisters for you either? I guess my stitching friends are my sisters, huh!
Loved reading about the mantel that ate all of the fun stuff! Woohoo, now you can buy some more stash with that $70. Maybe there is more? Please show us the picture!
Hope your spring break is perfectly perfect with lots of little x's being made!
Have a great week! Hugs.
